The Northshore Emergency Management Coalition is a partnership among the cities of Kenmore and Lake Forest Park (LFP), the Shoreline Fire District and the Northshore Utility District (NUD). NEMCo was created to provide the communities it serves with efficient emergency management resources.

Upcoming Events  

November 23, 2024 5th Saturday Drill with CERT & RACES.  The CERT drill will practice skills taught in the CERT Basic Course, including: building searches, survivor triage and transportation, lifting / cribbing, and firefighting (using simulated fires). NEMCo CERT volunteers will be alerted via Volgistics to report to

Location: Lake Forest Park Police Department.

Time: 8:30am volunteer reception open, 9:45am briefing, 10am Drill begins.

RACES: will be at EOC STN 51 doing HF comms to State EMD, Winlink and FS 51 EOC to LFP EOC communications. CERT & RACES Volunteers register in Volgistics.

December 4, 2024 Drones for Emergency Management

Please join the Region 2 National Preparedness Division in partnership with the Ocean County, NJ Sheriff’s Office for a discussion on starting a drone program.

Emergencies happen fast and without warning. Have you considered starting a public safety drone program? Our guest speaker from the Ocean County, NJ Sheriff’s Office can help you:

  • Identify goals for your program

  • Navigate Regulations and Policies

  • Plan your Budget and equipment needs

  • Develop Training needed to start and support the program

Who should attend: State, local, tribal, territorial government, CERTs and emergency managers.

CYBERSECURITY TRAINING for CERT Volunteers

Now Available July 16, 2024

To provide additional support to CERT volunteers and the important role they play in their communities, FEMA partnered with the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Agency (CISA) to provide a list of cybersecurity awareness training courses CERT volunteers can take to improve their ability to prepare for and respond to cybersecurity threats.

Workshop Highlights:

  • Resource Guide and Checklist: Each participant will receive a  Resource Guide and checklist to assist in preparing for and handling emergencies.

  • Communication Devices: The NEMCo radio team will provide information about different types of communication devices, from Amateur (Ham) Radio to Family Radio Service (FRS), that can help during a disaster.

  • Hands-On Exercise: Participants will engage in a hands-on exercise, extinguishing a real fire using a fire extinguisher.

Instructor:

  • The class will be conducted by Captain Andrew Leith, who brings 23 years of experience at the Shoreline Fire Department. Captain Leith is a member of the WA State FEMA Task Force 1, Wildland Team, Technical Rescue Team, Rescue Swimmer, and is assigned to the North End Heavy Rescue crew.

  • Join us for this important and informative workshop to ensure you and your family are prepared for an emergency or disaster!

Congradulations to our CERT Class!

CERT CLASS 

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a FEMA developed program that educates community members on disaster preparedness and hazards in our region. CERT trains you in basic response skills to hazards. Training includes utility and fire safety, search and rescue, Medical Operations and overall Preparedness.

National Resilience Guidance (NRG)

In August 2024, FEMA announed the NATIONAL RESILIENCE GUIDANCE. A Collaborative approach to Building Resilience. The guide is a result of whole of community efforts that will help create a new pathway to broader and more inclusive approaches to building resilience for all.  To read more.... NRG - CLICK HERE

TRAINING OPPORTUNITIES

FEMA:   FEMA periodically offers preparedness webinars.  Their website offers pre-recorded webinars.  

Periodic on-line Zoom classes.  ACT to Save a Life, sponsored by South County Fire, is a one-hour first aid class that focuses on the three skills you can use to save a life in the first few minutes of an emergency:

  • Antidote for suspected opiate overdose

  • CPR and AED for cardiac arrest

  • Tourniquet for severe bleeding control

2024 MEETINGS

 

RACES meetings will be held on the fourth Wednesday every month, beginning at 7pm, at Fire Station 51 in Kenmore.

 

CERT meetings will be held at Fire Station 51 in Kenmore, on the second Tuesday every month, beginning at 7pm.  

All-Volunteemeetings will be held quarterly, second Tuesday, last month of the quarter, at Fire Station 51 in Kenmore, beginning at 7pm.
